In Eri Leigh's New Worlds Wake, the second installment of the Aithyr Uprising series, the fragile peace forged in the previous book shatters. Marietta, a half-elf iros chosen by the deity Therypon, finds herself embroiled in a web of political intrigue and escalating conflict. With her homeland wary of her allegiance and the old order threatened by divine intervention, Marietta and her companions race against time to secure alliances and unravel the secrets of the fey, a mystery crucial to averting all-out war. This epic romantic fantasy explores themes of power, loyalty, and the moral ambiguities of a world where every decision carries a heavy cost. Betrayal, magic, and forbidden romance intertwine as Marietta battles to protect her people and uncover a conspiracy that threatens to consume them all.

Review New Worlds Wake
Oh my goodness, New Worlds Wake completely blew me away! As a huge fan of A Queen's Game, I was already anticipating this sequel, but Eri Leigh somehow managed to surpass even my high expectations. This book is a whirlwind of political intrigue, magical battles, and compelling character development that kept me utterly captivated from page one. Seriously, I struggled to put it down!
The plot is incredibly rich and layered. There's so much happening – betrayals, shifting alliances, dangerous secrets – it’s a constant rollercoaster of twists and turns that kept me guessing. I loved how the story built upon the foundation laid in the first book, expanding the world and introducing new elements while deepening the existing storylines. The pacing was perfect; never too slow, never too rushed, always keeping the tension high.
Marietta, Elyse, and even Wyltam (whose POV I desperately crave in future installments!) continue to be wonderfully complex characters. I appreciated that they aren't flawless heroes; they make mistakes, they grapple with their own insecurities, and their actions have real consequences. This adds so much depth and realism to their arcs, making them even more relatable and engaging. Their flaws, far from being weaknesses, are what truly make them human and incredibly sympathetic. Watching them navigate their challenges, often stumbling along the way, was a highlight of the reading experience. The internal conflicts they faced were just as gripping as the external ones, creating a wonderfully textured narrative.
The world-building continues to be phenomenal. Eri Leigh has crafted a truly immersive world with its own unique magic system, intricate political dynamics, and a richly detailed history. The sheer scale of the story is impressive, and the way the author weaves together different threads of the plot is masterful. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of a glossary at the end – such a thoughtful touch given the large cast of characters and the introduction of new terminology!
Moreover, the romantic elements are perfectly interwoven into the narrative, never overshadowing the plot but adding another layer of emotional depth to the characters' journeys. The relationships are complex and nuanced, reflecting the realities of power dynamics and personal growth. And let's not forget the sheer brilliance of the cliffhanger ending! It left me breathless and utterly desperate for the next installment. I can’t wait to see where Eri Leigh takes the story next! New Worlds Wake is a must-read for fans of epic fantasy, political intrigue, and characters who will stay with you long after you finish the book. This is truly a series that deserves all the hype.
